a journey westward

April 23, 2009

Last weekend we went on a bike trip to Rüdesheim, which Jason so kindly informed me is to the west of us…needless to say, I am not the geographically savvy one…  It rained all day Friday, through the night, and we woke up to a continuous drizzle Saturday morning.  We were feeling a bit bummed, thinking that we might have to reschedule our trip.  Nonetheless, Tyler came over to our place for some breakfast and coffee, and we waited a bit to see what the weather would do.  To our surprise the rain let up at around noon, and even though it was looking pretty dreary and wet out there we decided to give it a go.
The path that goes along the Rhine to Rüdesheim and beyond is beautiful and serene.  Because of the weather not many people were out that Saturday.  Here are a few photos I took along the way…all taken with our handy point and shoot camera.

The ride there is about 15 miles long, and we arrived a little after three.  Here’s Jason and Tyler walking up the road to the cute hotel we stayed in.  The last shot is a view from around the hotel building.  I still have a few more photos to go through from our ride, so stay tuned!!!

him and me

April 13, 2009

It was a wonderful Easter weekend–beautiful weather surrounded us as we celebrated and remembered the sacrifice that was made for each and every one of us.  On Saturday evening I begged Jason to walk across the street into the gardens with me.  The lighting is just so soft and beautiful each evening and I wanted to walk around, take some photos, and just have some fun.  Here are a few of my favorites from what we came back with.  I love him :).

Fußball

April 6, 2009

Jason and I had a great weekend.  The weather warmed up considerably this last week, so we’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors.  On Sunday afternoon we went to an awesome Fußball game at the Brita Arena here in town.  Our home team, SV Wehen Wiesbaden, beat Hamburg’s St. Pauli 3-1.  It was a great game and a really fun time.  On Saturday we went for a long bike ride across the way to Mainz and back.  We stopped at a bench along the path for some lunch and to relax.  It was so nice just to be outside in the sunshine.

I took the last three photos after work Friday evening.  I realized that we’ve never shared photos of the outside of our home with you guys.  The building is not the prettiest, but everything is looking a bit nicer now that all the trees and flowers are blooming.  The first two are of the front of our apartment building, and the last shot is the view of the courtyard from our balcony.  We live on the 3rd floor, which is actually the fourth level, as they start with the Erdgeschoss, or ground floor.

Anyway, I hope warmer weather has found it’s way to you as well and that you all are enjoying some springtime air!
