a little more prague

June 5, 2009

Here are a few more shots from our trip to Prague.  As I was posting these, I felt like they were such a random assortment of photographs–a little nature, some architecture, a bit of portraiture–but they do all have at least one thing in common.  Each photograph reveals a glimpse of the Prague that we discovered during those few days.  I often shy away from photographing just the major “sights” of each place that we visit.  We can all simply google a few words and those photographs pop up on our screens within seconds.  On the other hand, this tree, for example, just caught my eye as I was walking by it in a park by the river, so I photographed it.  The apartment building below intrigued me with the block letters painted there and it’s weathered feel.  As I look at each photo, I remember the moment that surrounded it.  Each photograph that we take reflects our personal experience with each and every place that we are so fortunate to discover.  This is the world through our eyes, right here and right now.

I have writer’s block…which is okay really, because I am a photographer, not a writer…yeah? That being said, I will keep it simple:
We went to Prague.
It was fun.
Here are some pictures.

Okay, maybe just a few words, because I can’t NOT tell you guys about this awesome place. All these photos (except for the last one…that was in the hotel lift) were taken in the Old Town Square of Prague–or Praha as it is called there. See the big tower up above? It is Prague’s Old Town Hall and we got to climb to the top of it. Here’s how we got up there:

And here’s the view from the top.

This is a little side room at the bottom of the tower–so colorful and full of detail!

More sweet architecture around the square.

This one’s my favorite. :) These little guys were so serious. Even though the square was incredibly busy and crowded, they sat so intently drawing the buildings around them. Their parents were just relaxing nearby at the tower.

And finally, a couple fun shots. More Prague photos coming shortly!
